Ceylon Silver Tips — Handmade White Tea from Kandy

Silver tips are the rarest and most delicate of Ceylon teas: only the young, unopened leaf buds, plucked by hand and gently dried so their fine silvery down stays intact.
How to brew
- Amount: 2 teaspoons (about 2–3 g) per 200 ml cup — the buds are bulky
- Water: 80–85 °C (not boiling)
- Steep: 3–5 minutes
- Infusions: 2–3 infusions from the same leaves
What makes silver tips special
A tea bush produces only a small number of new buds at a time, and each one is picked individually by hand. It takes a great many buds to make a single kilogram, which is why silver tips are among the most prized teas from Sri Lanka.
Because the buds are simply withered and dried — not rolled or oxidised like black tea — silver tips are classified as a white tea. The result is a pale golden cup with a soft, naturally sweet character.
Grown and handmade in our own garden
Every leaf comes from our own 20-acre (8 hectare) tea garden in Menikdiwela, in the Kandy District of Sri Lanka's Central Province, just below the Alagalla mountain range. Nothing is bought in or blended with other estates — it's single-origin Ceylon tea, from our tea field to your tea cup.
Tasting notes
Expect a light, clean and delicate infusion with gentle honeyed sweetness and a smooth finish. Silver tips are best enjoyed without milk or sugar.
Frequently asked questions
What are silver tips?
Silver tips are a white tea made only from the unopened leaf buds of the tea plant. The buds are hand-picked and gently dried, keeping their silvery down and delicate flavour.
Do silver tips contain caffeine?
Yes. Like all tea from the Camellia sinensis plant, silver tips contain caffeine. The amount in your cup depends on how much tea you use and how long you steep it.
Should I add milk to silver tips?
We recommend drinking silver tips plain. Milk and sugar would mask their light, naturally sweet flavour.
