Ceylon Golden Tips — Hand-Picked Golden Buds from Kandy

Golden tips are made from the same precious hand-picked buds as silver tips, but processed so the buds oxidise and turn a striking golden-copper colour, giving a richer, rounder cup.
How to brew
- Amount: 2 teaspoons (about 2–3 g) per 200 ml cup
- Water: 85–90 °C
- Steep: 3–4 minutes
- Infusions: 2 infusions from the same leaves
How golden tips are made
Each bud is plucked by hand, withered, and then allowed to oxidise before drying. Oxidation is what turns the buds from silver to gold and develops a deeper, smoother flavour than silver tips while keeping their delicacy.
Because only buds are used, golden tips are produced in very small quantities and are considered one of the finest specialty teas from Sri Lanka.
Grown and handmade in our own garden
Every leaf comes from our own 20-acre (8 hectare) tea garden in Menikdiwela, in the Kandy District of Sri Lanka's Central Province, just below the Alagalla mountain range. Nothing is bought in or blended with other estates — it's single-origin Ceylon tea, from our tea field to your tea cup.
Tasting notes
A bright golden-amber cup that is smooth, mellow and lightly sweet, with more body than silver tips. Golden tips are best enjoyed plain.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between golden tips and silver tips?
Both are made from hand-picked tea buds. Silver tips are dried with minimal processing, so they stay silver and taste delicate. Golden tips are allowed to oxidise, so they turn golden and give a richer, smoother cup.
Are golden tips a black tea?
Golden tips are oxidised buds, so they are usually grouped with black teas, but they are much lighter and smoother than a typical Ceylon black tea.
