Ceylon Pink Tea — Naturally Pink, Handmade in Kandy

Delicate Buds Ceylon pink tea leaves with a cup of naturally pink tea, handmade in Kandy, Sri Lanka

Our signature Ceylon Pink Tea gets its colour from the leaf itself. It's made from a special variety of the tea plant with natural pink pigmentation, grown in our own garden below the Alagalla range and crafted by hand with nothing added.

How to brew

Pink by nature, not by additives

Most teas sold as "pink tea" get their colour from flowers, fruit or added ingredients. Ours doesn't. It comes from a special variety of Camellia sinensis, the tea plant, whose leaves carry their own natural pink pigmentation, and we guarantee our pink tea contains no additives of any kind.

That pigment carries through into the cup, giving a soft pink hue you won't find in an ordinary Ceylon tea.

Handmade the way we make our green tea

We craft Pink Tea using the same technique as our handmade green tea, so it keeps all the character of a fine green tea. The leaves are plucked in our garden and processed by hand in small batches, which keeps quantities limited.

Tasting notes

A fruity, grassy cup with a soft pink hue. It's best enjoyed plain, and we also suggest trying it with a drop of lemon.

A signature gift

Pink Tea comes in our signature tin and in loose-leaf pouches, and it's a favourite in our recycled elephant-dung paper gift boxes, a rare Ceylon tea that makes a memorable gift.

Grown and handmade in our own garden

Every leaf comes from our own 20-acre (8 hectare) tea garden in Menikdiwela, in the Kandy District of Sri Lanka's Central Province, just below the Alagalla mountain range. Nothing is bought in or blended with other estates — it's single-origin Ceylon tea, from our tea field to your tea cup.

Frequently asked questions

What is Ceylon pink tea?

It's a tea made from a special variety of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) whose leaves are naturally pink-pigmented. We grow it in our garden near Kandy, Sri Lanka, and handcraft it the same way as our green tea.

Is your pink tea flavoured or coloured?

No. The pink hue and the fruity, grassy flavour come from the leaf itself. Our pink tea contains no additives of any kind.

Is this the same as Kashmiri pink tea (noon chai)?

No. Kashmiri pink tea is a drink prepared by cooking tea leaves with baking soda and milk, which turns it pink. Our Ceylon pink tea is a loose-leaf tea whose colour is natural to the plant. Just steep it in hot water.

How do I brew pink tea?

Brew it like a green tea: about 1 teaspoon per cup, water at 75–80 °C, and 2–3 minutes of steeping. The leaves can be steeped 2–3 times.
